Diamond rings for men are available in Platinum, Gold (yellow and white), Silver and Titanium. You can select the metal based upon your budget. Platinum rings are the most expensive ones and look enticing with Diamonds. Gold rings are comparatively cheaper and make the traditional choice for both men and women. These are available in 18K, 14K and 9K settings. Silver and Titanium wedding rings are cheap as well as elegant. Diamond wedding bands are a symbol of eternal love, commitment, loyalty, trust and promise. Exchanging bands on the wedding day is customary and diamond wedding rings remain the top choice for couples. Men do not feel shy these days in putting up a band on their finger. It reminds them of the promises they made on their big day.
The Egyptians wore the wedding ring on the left hand because it was believed that a vein in the left hand went straight to the heart. This tradition is still commonly practiced today in most parts of the world largely for practical purposes (most people are right handed.) It is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. But there are some countries and groups which do not follow this tradition. In the Jewish faith, the wedding ring is put on the index finger. Roman Catholics traditionally wore their wedding band on the right hand, and in many countries and regions in Europe some people still follow this tradition.
For many years, it was thought that diamonds worn on the left hand would ward off evil spirits and they signified betrothal to the public. Finally, those who could afford it began to call it a diamond engagement ring. The popularity of the diamond engagement ring really began to take off in 1938 when the advertising slogan, Diamonds are Forever, was coined and when De Beers introduced the control system that successfully worked as diamonds were withheld from the market by way of a monopoly. In the early 20th century, one of the chairman of De Beers Diamond Mining Corporation optimistically predicted that the diamond trade would prosper, ”so long as men are foolish and women are vain.”
