The Egyptians wore the wedding ring on the left hand because it was believed that a vein in the left hand went straight to the heart. This tradition is still commonly practiced today in most parts of the world largely for practical purposes (most people are right handed.) It is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. But there are some countries and groups which do not follow this tradition. In the Jewish faith, the wedding ring is put on the index finger. Roman Catholics traditionally wore their wedding band on the right hand, and in many countries and regions in Europe some people still follow this tradition.
With the absence of the wedding ring on prince’s hand, don’t get your mind to thinking that their marriage is in trouble. The royal couple is very much in love and has been enjoying the matrimonial bliss for five years now. But then, what is it that made the prince not wear a ring despite being happily married to the love of his life and mother of his kids? The reason is pretty simple – personal preference. Before the couple’s wedding in 2011, a report in Time stated that the prince will not wear a ring because of ”personal preference.”It was something the couple discussed but Prince William isn’t one for jewellery,” a Palace aide said.
These two rings are the pillars of a woman’s life. She will take as much pride in them as she would in the other important aspects. Though due to personal choices or latest fashion trends the lines between wedding ring and engagement ring often get blurred however, there are certain differences by the way of which the jewelry stores display them differently. Both constitute the bridal jewelry and often women even choose to wear both the engagement ring and the wedding band together on the ring finger of the left hand.
Tension set ring cons. The biggest drawback of tension set rings is that they are very difficult to resize. Resizing this style of rings can break the tension and the stone may come lose. This might be a serious problem for a wedding ring, because you are going to wear it for the rest of your life. You may gain or lose weight, and even if you don’t, with age your fingers ”shrink”. Most people need to resize their wedding rings as life goes on, but with tension set rings this is almost impossible.
This is generally made up of precious yellow alloy of gold, hardened with copper and Silver or tin and bismuth. Copper, silver, tin or bismuth is used to make the gold more durable and hard. Now a day a trend is that wedding ring can not be made with out platinum or titanium. These are more durable and fashionable too. Platinum with white alloys of gold are demanding by the wedding couples. Slightly yellow ’white’ gold alloys which was used with gold is now replaced with cheaper nickel-gold alloy with a plating of rhodium. This can be cheap than before but it is it is not at all durable and good. Tungsten and titanium can also be used as ring materials.
