Cut, color, clarity, and carat are the four important factors of diamond rings. From the cut of a diamond ring you can have a fair idea regarding the shape and proportion of the stone. Diamond wedding rings are available in shapes like marquise, pear, oval, princess, emerald, heart, and round. However, 75% of diamond wedding rings sold world wide are round in appearance. Color of the ring plays a vital role in its price. Diamonds of yellow, green, red, orange, blue, and pink color are generally costlier. Diamond rings in faint or pale color are the most desirable and but they are rare. While on your way to shop diamond wedding rings do not fall to the idea that diamonds are only white in color.
Gemstones. A wedding band is typically a seamless ring without any gemstones and designs, but there is not harm in adding one. A gemstone creates a dainty and delicate design. If you want to include a gemstone, think of how you will place it. Also, if the bride’s ring has a stone, it is not necessary for the grooms ring to sport one; it looks better plain. Speaking of possible gemstone choices, white diamonds are by far the most choice. Amethyst, turquoise, pearls and chocolate diamonds are other favorites for a wedding ring. When you buy a ring with a stone, choose one that has special meaning in your life. It could be a birth stone. Select one that is hard enough to withstand everyday wear.
For many years, it was thought that diamonds worn on the left hand would ward off evil spirits and they signified betrothal to the public. Finally, those who could afford it began to call it a diamond engagement ring. The popularity of the diamond engagement ring really began to take off in 1938 when the advertising slogan, Diamonds are Forever, was coined and when De Beers introduced the control system that successfully worked as diamonds were withheld from the market by way of a monopoly. In the early 20th century, one of the chairman of De Beers Diamond Mining Corporation optimistically predicted that the diamond trade would prosper, ”so long as men are foolish and women are vain.”
